В полном соответствии с названием Samyang 8mm f/3.5 AS IF UMC Fish-eye CS II относится к сверхширокоугольным — его фокусное расстояние составляет 8 мм, а угол обзора — 180°. Не имеет привода автофокуса — только ручная фокусировка. Выпускается в двух вариациях — под байонеты Canon EF и Nikon F. Конструкция включает встроенную бленду.

Кольцо диафрагмирования вращается плавно, а при переключении значений диафрагмы щелчок чувствуется чётко, не оставляя сомнений, переключились вы или нет.

Фокусировочное кольцо ходит легко, однако для фишая, как для сверхширокоугольника, это непринципиально: ведь гиперфокальное расстояние составляет 1,5 метра.

За счёт широкого угла всё, что дальше полутора метров, попадает в резкость, и объектив уже можно использовать как репортажный, не затрачивая даже доли секунды на фокусировку. Ведь вы всегда попадаете в резкость, даже на диафрагме f/4. Ещё один плюс широкого угла — вы можете снимать с рук без шевелёнки на выдержке 1/30, а то и 1/15 с. Несмотря на то, что камера не управляет диафрагмой, вы можете снимать в режимах приоритета диафрагмы, ручном и автоматическом режимах.

Последний боковой CA типичен для недорогих объективов, но легко корректируется программно. Вам нужен большой для подводных или над / подводных снимков, но маленький, как в видео, подойдет для над водой, и он тоже не будет мешать.
